The Bow Magnet

Wrapping up the year the best way I know how—with a shiny and bright handmade ceramic bow.

Can you believe we made it through 2025? You might say it’s time to say, “that’s a wrap,” and put a bow on it! This month’s magnet is a holiday gift bow, created to celebrate the season of gifts, décor, and the little extra sparkle and shine we get to enjoy this time of year.

Before becoming a full-time potter, I had an eight-year career as a floral designer. When December came around, everyone wanted a bow, and I was one of the few brave enough to take on the task of bow making. One day, while elbow-deep in clay, I wondered if I could get clay to behave like acetate ribbon and fold like a bow. It took about a year of trial and error, but I finally figured out how to make it happen. And voilà!

Whether your year was spectacular and you want to decorate the memory and admire it under the tree, or it was less than stellar and you’d rather throw it in a box and ship it to Timbuktu, let’s all put a nice bow on it and call it a wrap.
