April 2026 Magnet Club: Peas and Carrots

April is here, which means the farmer’s markets are back! For this month’s seasonal magnet, I’m celebrating the reappearance of fresh and local produce with a magnet duo. Peas and carrots are a classic pairing, whether we’re talking about colors, side dishes, or what to plant side by side in the garden.

Even as a kid, I was always a fan of fresh vegetables. I was that weirdo who actually liked a salad or an afternoon snack of raw carrots. Growing up in the 90’s and early 2000’s, broccoli was a common enemy in kids’ shows and cartoons, but that didn’t deter me. I know, I know: I’m the cheez it lady! Don’t worry, just because I’m revealing my secret love of healthy snacks doesn’t mean I’m going to leave my salty and sugary favorites behind. I’m an equal opportunity snacker.

Peas and carrots felt like an easy choice for this month’s magnets. The perfect way to celebrate spring gardening, seasonal cooking, and the return of local farmer’s markets all in one. And even if you’re more of a chips and candy kind of snacker, these cute vegetable magnets will at least make your fridge look a little healthier (and cuter).

And honestly, I probably will be relying on the farmer’s market quite a lot this year for garden fresh produce. As much as I love a good gardening afternoon, this spring and summer is going to be largely devoted to studio time as I catch up on wholesale orders, rolling out my summer colors collection, and sculpting your monthly magnet club magnets.

While I do have some super cute raised beds in my backyard, and I did start a few seeds indoors this year, my cat decided that those sprouting seeds looked like a perfect snack. Again. He does this every year. He’s so lucky he’s cute and I love him. As much as I’d love to do every single project and explore every passion all at once, I simply can’t. And that’s ok, because I have every gardening season for the rest of my life to get back out there. This year, I’m choosing to focus on exploring and experimenting with all of the different ways I can run my studio, designing seasonal glaze colors, and dreaming up new magnet ideas. And I’m thinking my garden time this year is going to be spent on the patio with a glass of wine more often than with hands in the dirt. I’ll save my mud time for the pottery studio. So for now, peas and carrots will be the bounty of my garden of ceramic magnets.
